Recycling: An Energy-Saving Short Cut
Recycling: An Energy-Saving Short Cut
National Recycling Week
Now in its 23rd year, Recycle Week is an annual campaign which aims to raise awareness, and encourage participation in, recycling. Sustainability is firmly on the national agenda and the public is looking to organizations to help solve major environmental issues. That makes Recycle Week a greater opportunity than ever to change people’s recycling behaviors.
Recycling is important in today’s world if we want to leave this planet for our future generations. It is good for the environment since we are making new products from the old products which are of no use to us.
Did you know that 79% of all of the plastic waste ever produced is still in the environment?
Why Recycle?
• To make the environment clean
• To save energy
• To reduce garbage in landfills
• To conserve materials
The benefits of recycling are simple, but the effect they can have are large. Which is why so many countries support the process and make sure that their citizens face no trouble at all when they want to take up recycling.
Energy saving is important if we are to reduce the future effects of global warming. If we recycle one aluminum can, we are able to save enough energy to run a TV for around 3 hours. This will obviously depend on the energy consumption of your TV, but it gives you a great idea as to just how much energy can be saved during the process of recycling products. For many commonly recycled products, the energy savings also help to make recycling cheaper than extracting and processing raw resources. However, many other costs may also play important roles in the economics of recycling.
